If you're in shape it won't take every ounce of your strength. But it will take more of your determination and guts than you've ever had to use before. The pain will make you quit. The monotony will make you quit. The cadre will make you quit. The unending strain on your endurance will make you quit.

You got it yet? It's what's in your head and your heart that will make you a Ranger. Quit isn't a word. It's an excuse. If you are the last man standing, then you're leading the way. That's where a Ranger walks.

Never, ever, ever, ever, never give in. You got a goal. That's the only thing that should be on your mind. You'll heal. Believe me. It's nothing that a thousand before you have already done. And 100,000 quit. Hold your head high and keep your eyes on the objective. The scroll is what ya signed up for. Go get it.

I wish all three of you the best and hope you advance as far as you can in your military careers.

Keep in mind always that although we stress the mental preparation aspect of 'not quitting' this is not only just a state of mind. It also requires that you make the necessary preparations in order to succeed. No one ever succeeded PURELY because they willed themselves to. They also made detailed plans, prepared, trained and followed through with the execution when the moment arose.
