My reason for assigning this task is to determine the state of your physical fitness. Frankly, RTO and Cliv03 are both right -- you have a long way to go. I suspect that your form is lacking. What's your height and weight? Just post it in this thread.

I blame our society and the school systems. Slowly but surely, PE is being dropped from the curricular these days.

ok. no problem. Let's go ahead and assume it was a typo.

What do you think was closer to your actual number of pull ups?

7? 17? 27?

Yes. Form makes a HUGE difference. Just ask the kid on this forum that lost his shot at RIP a few weeks ago for poor pushup form. He is on worldwide assignment now and will never earn the scroll or tan beret. Learn from his mistake and don't be like him.

You have work to do. That's ok. There's nothing wrong with that. Just as long as you don't hide the fact or cover it up or try to 'fluff' your numbers. Just fix it and do over.

Get to work on those pushups and situps as well.

.....and RUN!!! Get the best pair of running shoes you can afford and RUN TILL YOU PUKE. Everyday.
It's the Ranger way.

All right, so now it's time to get on message. Listen to me, if you truly want to serve in the 75th ranger Regiment, you came to the right place. One of the prime reasons this site exists is to help prepare young men for service in the Ranger Regiment. You need to read all the FAQs as well as selected stickies ant threads. Almost every question you may have has already been answered -- you can locate these answers by use of the search feature. You are expected to demonstrate a number of skills: PT, reading and writing, occasionally math.Right now you have some time to develop these skills. Take advantage of this opportunity -- don't waste it. You may never be afforded the chance to learn from so many experienced Rangers. Now what I'd like you to do is take a look at the Ranger Creed (a tab at the top of the page) and think about living by that creed for the rest of your life. Your first take away is: Never, never quit.

Young man. The gentleman you answered in such a casual, haphazard manner was a combat veteran about 20 years before you were born. He is a man that many of us around here feel that it is a privilege and honor to call "Sir". I'll be goddamned if I allow you to speak to men of character and honor in such a frivolous manner. I've reached a point in my life where I can pick and choose who I address with that salutation - and the gentleman who took his time to address you is more than worthy of your respect. Either you show it - or you leave.

He asked you your height and weight. The correct answer was "Ranger Jim, my height is 5'8" (or 68 inches) and I weigh 141 pounds."

Additionally, your response to RANGER Cliv03 is less than to be desired.

I recommend you re-read the standards for this environment. I also want you to send me a PM with a 400 word description of the word "respect" and what it means to you. Complete this no later than Sunday evening at 1800 EST.

If you think it was a typo, then what is the correct answer? I believe that Ranger RTO has already asked you this.

Yeah, a kid could have his self esteem lowered by being on the losing team, or get hurt and the school would be sued in both cases.

Task completed. You need to work on your spelling and grammar.
