My #1 goal is the Ranger Battalion, what i meant about the 82nd was if I cant get op 40 I would at least like to start in an Airborne unit.
Thanks again... and does anyone know about renegociating a contract?
Back in '88 I could have gone to the 82nd. Thats were I actually wanted to go when I came in and before I volunteered for the Regt. It's an Airborne unit, it was only 60 miles from home. What else could I ask for right! Everyone in my RIP class that failed or quit went there.

All I had to do was quit RIP!

I saw a BUNCH of young ''studs'' quitting RIP !!!
I sure as heck didn't want to be known as a quitter the rest of my life

im on the same boat as you are, did u get airborne in your contract? im a split-op guy, i wish i had never done so. i went to MEPS, expecting everything to go smoothly(11x airborne ranger), being prior service and not pissing in their face like the rest of the kids did. i ended up having to get shuffled around a bit, starting with one guy, i told him i want out of the reserves, heres my release, get me a RIP contract PLEASE. the moment i said that he paused, gives me a wierd look, tells me im good to go, already took the airborne physical last year. i sit and wait, then i get called up, sit next to a lady. couldnt blame her, but she wasnt as clear as the other guy was, so i had to explain to her i dont want the same job, i want infantry and ranger.

after some more waiting, she tells me i can get either just infantry, or 13F and airborne. i asked why not 11x and airborne but because of my "special program" it wont work out. hopefully the rumors are true(taken from several sources) that i can ask for ranger school right after airborne. maybe they need 13f's in rangers i dont know but i almost went crazy over the fact that i dont just get to do it plain and simple, not asking for much, just to cap some haje. i wouldnt trade a ranger tab, or chance to get into ranger school for all the ferraris in the world.

oh forgot to add, can 13F AIT in the wonderful fort sill(i thought i saw the last of it) prepare me for airborne and RIP? ill do the best i can on my own but a little running, hiking, rockclimbing, diamond pushups cant prepare me enough for city week. i guess a 290 on my PT score or higher will definitly increase my chances for being accepted after airborne. would myMOS help? how would my tasks as a ranger with 13F mos be different from a normal ranger being an 11b(do i get to ambush haje)

Mika you need to go post an intro in the proper forum before you post again.
