You're a bit older than most who try out - which means you don't bounce back from a day of ass kicking as fast as the youngsters.
Which means you need to be in much better shape than you're now in - regardless of how fit you are.
The Regimental PT standard is at the 17-21 age scores & you will already be run ragged before you take that entry PT test on RIP Day 1.
Medic is a good choice, even if you can't get opt40, there's still a lot of good assignments for medics - and there is no one a grunt appreciates more than a good 'Doc'. Study hard. These days you will be using your skills.
