No need to thank me for my service Xducer I was paid well and enjoyed it everyday. I thank all of you for your service.
Ranger Chiron that sounds quite frightening. I would wager there is not much malpratice litigation there where you are. I know many times even though we did not suspect c-spine injury we always immobilized and let the ER doc make the call. After all hes the guy with the insurance and deep pockets.
In Oct of 1993 I was working at a cousins grocery and saw footage on CNN that upset me greatly. I had not been able to enlist because of my asthma like I said. But had wanted to be an Army medic because my dad still tears up to this day when he talks about the medics from his unit. So a few days after that I joined the local vol fire dept and rescue squad training mostly on the rescue side.
A year later my grandmother was injured in a car wreck pulling out of her church flipping the car on its side. She was talking but when bystanders flipped the car back down she went unresponsive. I got the call and went but luckily she was already loaded when I got there. I still dont know if it was the wreck or that 2nd impact that killed her. I took the next EMT class in Spring of 95.
I was about to start the Paramedic program when I got hurt in 2001. Long term packing people around for a living isnt great on the spine. Especially when some of your frequent flyers weigh 600+ lbs.
