I believe in making the world safe for our children, but not our
children's children, because I don't think children should be having sex

This morning driving to work, listening to the radio, I was struck by how strange life is. 40 years ago, I got med-evaced from Viet-Nam with amoebic dysintary. Went from 145 lbs to under 100. Was shipped to Walter Reed. Was released on leave the day Martin Luther King was killed. Strange time to be in America. Shortly thereafter I was assigned to USA School of the Americas in Fort Gulick, Panama. As I was awaiting a flight out of Fort Jackson, Bobby Kennedy was gunned down by a Palistinian gunman. Thought it was a good time to leave the country. Got to Panama just in time for the National Guard to depose the President of the Republic. We dug in to defend the school using students -- was it ironic to arm Peruvian cadets? I thought so -- I went back to Viet-Nam where it was safe.

It's hot as hell down here, too. It was 98 in the shade the other day.

We're almost always well into the hundreds by June here. It should be a buck 10 or a buck 13 everyday by now.

I'm lovin' every day in the 90's here with our low humidity. Like they say around here, '' but it's a dry heat....'' 8)
