18x with an option 40

Post by jlane »

Rangers,
I have been in contact recently with a friend of mine who is an sf colonel he informs me that i can pick my mos as 18x and go straight to sfas. I was wondering if it is possible to declare 18x and still get an option 40 and go Ranger and then just have the 18x sf on "the back burner" so to speak... this might seem like a stupid question but I was just curious and I couldn't find much on this by searchin so thanks for the help guys

You really should read every post in: http://www.armyranger.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=52 and http://www.armyranger.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=35.

I know the answer you are most likely to receive, it would behoove you to find it on your own, because it has been covered.

No. You cannot have 18x and option 40 in your contract. If you want to be in Special Forces, go with 18x. If you want to be a Ranger, select an MOS that the 75th Ranger Regiment accepts and get an option 40 with it.

Back off Noah. Just point the new guy in the right direction. Don't give out info.

I'd do it if it had a $25,000 sign on bonus

I think there is a higher valued bonus contract if you select the James Bond option, plus you get to train with the SAS and MI6.

They had OUTRAGEOUS re-enlistment bonuses for in-flight cruise missile repair techs when I got out.
I almost took ' em up.

They told me with my mechanical/machining background AND being Airborne qualified I was a write-in for the job.

Guess they were having problems recruiting for that MOS?

Are there still any slots available for the Space Shuttle Door Gunner MOS? I want to get that and HANO school in my contract before I ship.
