Introduction - Aubrie

Post by akenn21 »

Hello! My name is Aubrie, I'm an intel nerd aspiring to head to RASP within the next year. I'm extremely passionate about my fitness journey and my Army career. I'm a SPC and just hit 2 yrs in, but I want to be in a different type of unit, and have more combat experience instead of the strategic operations world. I landed a 575 on my ACFT last week, and I wanted to see about joining the discord to help get any tips for this next phase in my life. I know for a fact I need to work on dropping my 5 mile time, but am currently doing the THOR3 prep. (I know its not geared towards the Regiment but it still is working wonders) I was also curious about if you would have any say as to what your thoughts are about picking up SGT or not before attending RASP. I have a very supportive command who is willing to send me when I am ready. My DEROS would be the end of 2025, where I hope to be able to PCS to the regiment. I'm whole heartedly committed to this, and created a lifestyle around improving myself (gym at 3 am before PT, 2-3 workout sessions a day, heavy rucks, as well as putting 40+ miles behind me a week through running). Thank you in advance!

Hey Aubrie,

Excuse the wait on the post approval. Welcome to ArmyRanger.com! Please DM myself and/or Ranger Blueliner for discord access.

Probably goes without saying but you do not need to do a Ranger specific training program. Know the physical requirements and train your body to meet and exceed those standards. You're doing the best thing - keep going.

As far as if it is better to attend as a young SGT or SPC I don't think it will change much. Some Ranger's who have graduated RASP in the last 5ish years may give better feedback. Usually on the combat arms side I personally would tell someone to try not to go to Regiment as a NCO. The learning curve is much steeper and expectations tighter. On the intel side it is probably fine. Ask that question once you are in the discord and intro yourself there.

How did you hear about serving in Regiment? What makes you think Regiment is combat focused and not COCOM strategic focused?

Aubrie, welcome to the site. This forum is a plethora of information regarding the process for preparing for RASP, and even Ranger School. I highly suggest that you check out some of the "letters from school" thread entries to get an idea of what you are aspiring to go through. Keep us updated with PT scores so that we can monitor your progress. A 575 score is not bad, but shoot for a 600. Start to learn the Ranger Creed, and apply it to your daily life. Capitalize Regiment next time as well, attention to detail is key here. Do pushups.
