Hey Rangers and Mentees, so I’ve been following this packet called the Rookie Training Packet by Rob Shaul which is a lot of endurance work and has greatly prepared me so far. However I am on a segment of the training which is focused on strength work with weights.
Well the issue is that I have loved lifting all through highschool and I was very discouraged to find that my lifts have significantly gone down since I started training for RASP. All my lifts have gone down at about 50lbs.
My question is whether or not this will be a problem for me at RASP. My bodyweight strength and endurance has greatly improved, however I have noticed that certain exercises such as sandbag lifts and ruck marches have gotten alittle harder through time.
Thanks ahead of time for any answers.
Does weightlifting matter for RASP?

Re: Does weightlifting matter for RASP?
In short, no.
A more complete answer would be that weight lifting is key to anyone being fit and fast or having great endurance. So keeping up with weight lifting at one level or another is important. Being able to bench 400lbs probably is not though. It's a balancing act. Your goals right now should be doing the basic parts of fitness great. APFT w/ chinups, 5 mile run, 6-12 mile rucks etc. Mixing in weightlifting is a great idea especially if that is what you are good at.

Roger Ranger Disinfertention, I’ve always loved lifting so I’ll try to work it in while keeping on with my APFT and the rest. Thanks for the advice

You can always post your routine here and we can give direct feedback. Just as I figure you've read before there is nothing to replace doing timed pushups, situps, 2/5 mile run and chin ups.
