Practicing for time, or numbers, or a combination of that is always a good start. There are a few posts on this site as well as tons of sites you can find with your favorite search engine to get on a specific work out. As most people will tell you though, the only way to get better at doing pushups or situps for 2 minutes is to... do pushups/situps for 2 minutes.
