Sitrep-Smokeeater1061

Post by smokeeater1061 »

Rangers I am two days and a wake up from flying out to Ft.Benning OSUT, leave for MEPS 0900 Monday. Contract as far as I know is still 11x 20150203. Hopefully with E2 Paygrade. I will update further when I can next. I am still confident I made the right choice, choosing Infantry which is the work I want to do and not taking an Option 40 for cook or commo while all jobs are at a higher standard in the Rangers strictly speaking from my current perspective commo, cook, truck driving was not the jobs I wanted to sign my life away for. My first task is to give 100% and then some in training and earn a slot at OSUT or earn my way once I get to my assigned unit. To me the work with the men who do it is worth it in my heart and soul. Thank you for your patience and motivation Rangers, Ill do my best and help my battle buddy do his.

At some point in OSUT, the Ranger Cadre will send a team to provide an opportunity to earn the beret and scroll. You will be judged based on PT and class work. We have had a number of future soldiers earn their scroll in OSUT. Never, never quit!

Sitrep* My first pt test was a 203 45 pu,49su and 14:56 run I am up to a 266 as of apft 5 61 pu 68 su 13:08 on my run. I am lucky to be one of the Infantry man trained in the best company on sandhill Attack company alpha 1-50. We set a battalion record for number of experts and I am proud to be one, we also made the highest pt score company wide for sandhill. Our company is strict on form xyphoid process touches the ground on pushups. Sit-ups all the way up.

We had our D's change twice mid cycle and a new company commander, or I'd have a Ranger contract I talked to my SDS week 4 and he really likes me but had to get shoulder surgery. I missed getting an Airborne contract by hours last week because they had already taken the physical.

I'm getting stationed near 2/75. More updates when they ce in. I have two weeks of leave and will be eating healthier than the difac food, working out. Still highly motivated and looking forward to the next hurdle to overcome and get me closer to earning a scroll.

Roger Ranger Jim. My cycle is the last cycle to do the bayonet march. Our bayonet was 6 mi at a slow pace night infiltration course at night at a fast past 30 minutes for my company of a 160. Then 6 more with ammo cans filled with sand, water jugs, and machine guns. I carried the 249 the last 5 miles with a large ammo can for most of that. The new cycles are doing stress free training" two and 4 mile ruck on the running track with sneakers that's from our DS's. Pnn they get there phones daily. Preparing for female infantry I suppose so they can say there maintaining the standards.

Rucks are easy here about 16-19 minute miles. We did the last training requirement today which was a 5 mile eagle run with cadence at 9 minute mile pace. I'm going to keep working hard and drop a packet for the 75th as soon as I am allowed. Do any Rangers know how long I have to wait ?

I am going to try and get onto the LRS unit at my duty station just future goals until I am afforded the opportunity to attend RASP. On a side note I have watched 3 people waste option 40 contracts here and about 6 18x contracts.

I have been assimilated into a fire team. My team leader wants me to go with him to BRSA so him and I will be training up for that, he is going to help me develop all my weaknesses. I lucked out because he wants to go to RASP as well. Our morning pt is good we have a specialist leading it and he is preparing for selection. Just a quick sitrep.
