Overseas somewhere some junction - crossroad

Post by Steadfast »

.
Well it was one of those times a Mixed size platoon of Rangers (with weapons, back packs) filling the rear of a Deuce & a half truck driving north with sign stating left (Hwy 1 towards Camp Enari) 5 miles. Another arrow pointing NE (Hwy 19) to An Khe & Camp Radcliffe (number miles I care not to remember). A third sign pointing DEAD East (12,000 miles) USA. I always enjoyed seeing that distant place to ponder if only momentarily our vehicle is hitting a rough hole in the road that causes everybody to bounce about a foot high & you refocused your mind to conversations going on around you & tall hatless blonde Ranger standing on the wooden seat Deuce & a half wind surfing trying not to break his neck.

Most of my duce-and-a- half memories are not from Viet-Nam, but from OCS. We rode for lots of miles on and around Fort Benning. The tradition we established was singing raunchy (dirty) songs as we rode. My God, Jake, that was 45 years ago.
