8th Graders struggling with Basic Knowledge

Screw all this standardized testing, make all students pass the citizenship test prior to graduation. Then they would learn all of this stuff and be better citizens. When the children don't know what it is that makes this country special, then it will no longer be special.

Standardized testing is bullshit and has been for a long time. This is amplified by the current shit scheme that is plaguing our school system now. It has been twisted directly onto its head. It's not about testing for knowledge, but it my opinion, testing for corporate gain and governmental control.

Culture changes. The culture of America is nothing of what it was 230 years ago. Does that mean we need to know it to the letter of what we understand now? No way. Do we need to have a general knowledge, yes. And if you ask children of this age group why we defected and rebelled, they will have different answers with the same context. This study proved and said nothing in my opinion. It tried to highlight some culture differences, and then blamed the asians... aka Americans. Don't read this bullshit and believe it. Take charge of your children's education if you doubt the school system... I do.
