Introductino - Ken
Rangers,
My name is Ken and I am from Washington DC. I joined in 96 as an 11B and retired as a SSG after 8 years of service. After OSUT + Airborne, I was assigned to A/1/502 Inf in Ft. Campbell. After a year of that, I was reassigned to go up to Alaska and did the dance with B/1/501st PIR (Arctic Airborne). I went through Ranger School while I was stationed up there.
Following my 3 years up north, I did a brief stint in 2ID while that Medium Brigade concept was rolling out. I re-upped for another 5 years and then called Branch to transfer me out of 2ID. The gods listened, and I went back down to the lower 48, assigned to A/3/187 Inf. We deployed to Afghanistan in early '02, then Iraq in '03 for the invasion. I was injured in line of duty and was sent back home, where I was I was Med Boarded and placed on the PRDL.
Anyway Rangers, It's great to see that there is a thriving community out there that exists, and I look forward to participating in discussions on this board.

Re: Introductino - Ken
I spent the first few years out doing security work for the Intel Community.
In 2006, I formed a small govt contracting firm as an SDVOSB. I'm still doing that work now.
I currently work a little bit with IAVA and DAV on policy support stuff. (VA scandal, Suicide Prevention stuff) In my spare time, I try to mentor newly minted civilians on their transition. The last part has stalled significantly since Ranger Steve Robinson passed away last year. Lastly, every inaugural cycle, I help run an apolitical ball which is free for veterans and active servicemembers, using funds generated by sponsors and all proceeds going to TAPS.
