I remember reading about the filming of the Gettysburg movie he made. He had a cameo as some unknown Confederate officer (figures, his money was paying for it it..) and flew in for the day of his filming in his private helo. When he stepped out the reenactors hired as extras gave a loud cheer... that was until Jane stepped out and there was silence as they all turned their backs to her.

Nah, the Confederate unit I was in was in the movie. What happened was that Ted Turner was moving through the thousands of reenactors, shaking hands and such. He stopped at each unit commander, thanking them for being there (since they weren't being paid). Jane Fonda was following along behind him. When they came to one unit he shook the commander's hand, made some comments, and the commander told him that a lot of the men in his unit were Vietnam vets and that they would shake his hand, but not hers. Ted shook his hand and said OK, walking on, leaving Jane just standing there googly-eyed until she walked on.
