it has been a while gentlemen...

Post by Cayo »

Good friends,
It has been entirely too long since I have last been lurking around this website, and I have the feeling I will probably fall off the face of the map once more in the coming days, but for the few free moments I have I wanted to give a little update.
I graduated Ranger School today with class 03-12. Wow, was that a ballbuster... You realize you have reached new lows when you check your watch in the patrol base and say "oh hell yeah, I get an hour and a half of sleep tonight, this is awesome!"

As I gear up for my second deployment in the next few months I look back over my short career so far and am amazed by everything I have been afforded the opportunity to do. Regiment has given me so much.

I also believe I am the first RASP graduate on the site to graduate Ranger School as well. The program has been going on for 2 years now. I don't say this to brag, just to drive home the harsh reality that it really is so much easier to get to battalion than stay there.

I look over the leaders I have had so far and try and pull bits and pieces from each as I prepare to mentor privates as a brand new tab spec4. There is a loneliness to leadership at any level. Former peers are now subordinates.

All in all its a great time to be young and alive and in batt. Now I get it why all you old fogey's get all nostalgic. We are so busy now a days that it will probably be a hot minute before I stop by again, so let me leave all with a little parting gift...

Congratulations young Ranger. But you aren't the first DEP we've had that graduted Ranger School. Ask Disinfertention about it.

Cayo, you are the reason ArmyRanger.com exists. Our goal is to prepare young men for service in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Please sit down and post a thread on the changes you have seen in yourself. Not to exceed 250 words. Never, never quit!

Stud congratulations, we are damn proud of you! Stay safe on your next rotation and in reference to your Tab Check, I am pretty sure there is a "unwritten rule" somewhere that says "prior to tab checking on ArmyRanger.com, said tabchecker's NEW TAB shall have diminished its GLOW and thread it was sewn with shall have been provided sufficient cooling off period!" :P 8)
