Introduction - Mat

Post by mathxc »

Hello Rangers,
My name is Mat and I am 22 years old. I recently enlisted in the Army as an 11x entering as a Specialist, because of college, and I ship out on 20110613. I was unable to obtain an option 40 or an option 4 contract the day that I went to MEPS. If I had the luxury of time then I would have waited and got the option when it became available but bills have to be paid and I have a family to support. I have a great desire to become a Ranger and I will be one day. I am not physically ready now but quitting is not an option and I will reach my goal in the end. I am pushing myself to get into better shape to be able to get as high as I can on the APFT. When I say get into better shape I mean stronger and more fit, not to lose weight. I am 6' tall and weighing 135lbs. I was actually worried that I wouldn't make weight when I went to MEPS, but I gained around 10 pounds and made it. Although I am embarrassed by my them here is my 1-1-1 results as of now. Soon to improve!

Push-ups(1:00) - 37
Sit-ups(1:00) - 22
1-Mile - 8:04

I would like to thank each of you for your service to this country. Also for all of your efforts in making this a great resource.

Best regards,
Mat

Hello Rangers,

I am not sure if this is where I should put this so I apologize in advance if it isn't. I would like to know if there would be a probability to receive a Ranger mentor even though I do not have an option 40 contract. I only have 3 months until I ship for OSUT and I want to make the most of everyday I have before I leave. I am currently doing PT everyday and pushing myself to get better. I feel that by having a mentor it will be a great way to better myself further. I know I can do this and I humbly ask one of you to help better guide me along that path. I understand that getting the option 40 contract is the usual way to help receive a mentor; I was just wondering if there may be an exception. Thank you for your consideration and thank you for your service.

Rangers Lead The Way!

Regards,
Mat
