She just made a rookie mistake and instead of putting in a 'sell now order' she should have put in an order which sold it at $4-5 less than it was on the day she found out.

Ranger BadMuther, although her stock did drop initially, it also went on the rise, and if she didn't shit her pants at the first sign of trouble, she would have in the end, actually made money.
