MOH Question...

Post by IEDmagnet »

So at what point does the CINC earn the right to be above saluting the MOH awardee, or standing at attention during the reading of the citation?

If they were to promote someone to GOA tomorrow, and that Heroic SSG was only a PFC, those five stars would salute that one. So who the hell told POTUS he was above it? :!: :?:

While saluting the awardee is a time honored tradition that is strongly encouraged, I don't believe it is actually required in any regulation. Its done usually as a sign of great respect for that person's deeds. Doesn't change the fact though that you should damn well present yourself with some personal discipline during the ceremony, especially if you're the HMFIC.

Fatboy is correct, there actually is no regulatory guidance requiring a hand salute. I know I have searched extensively, but it is a tradition that I believe should be continued.

Is there really anything this POS, I mean POTUS, do that surprises anyone here?

Not really anything that he can do to look any worse than normal.... in that you are correct. Whether it is a Reg or tradition, he basically all but told the entire Military community that he doesn't respect us (past or present). 2012 will never get here fast enough for my taste.

You will have to remind me which of our beloved Republic's time-honored traditions this moron POTUS has ever honored. :?

Honoring the military is just another punchline someone planted in his teleprompter to try and help his public image. It sure doesn't come from his heart, obviously.

You'd think he put on a clown nose and started doing the chicken dance during the ceremony.

The man didn't serve in the military. I have little expectation of any civilian to use military courtesy during any event.

That being said I'm sure he could hire another adviser to help him out. But my first 3 sentences still stand as my humble opinion.

Maybe its not the military, maybe it's just MOH awardees the POTUS has a grudge against. Reason I say this wasn't he one of the only Presidents at that skipped the MOH Ball when he took office? Maybe personal courage bothers him? Who the fuck knows.

Apparently, 'ol slap-bama ' forgets ' to salute the soldier, marine, airmen, standing at the foot of the ramp to Marine 1 ( helicopter ) or Airforce 1. Just walks by 'em and starts to shake hands of all the puppets assembled to greet him.

I'm sure there isn't a reg about the POTUS required to salute, but what a P.O.S. !!!!

Probably fixing to load on the chopper and didn't want to piss off the pilot before he made his little trip.

Can't argue with that, he just never had any military training. Remember this is the same guy that forgets to put his hand over his heart for the National Anthem also.....
