Vietnam Veterans at the National Infantry museum

Post by Invictus »

Got this via email today from the National Infantry Museum. Just another reason it's great to live so close to it.
Welcome home Vietnam Veterans!
The angry reception most Vietnam veterans received upon their homecoming left many of them scarred for decades. An event this weekend should go a long way to heal those painful memories.

All Vietnam veterans are invited to participate. They will be asked to gather near the World War II Company Street, while their families find seats in the stadium. As the ceremony begins, they will cross the parade field en masse, with lines of active duty Soldiers and members of the Patriot Guard Riders lining the walk.

The guest speaker for the event is Colonel Ralph Puckett, U.S. Army, Retired, inaugural inductee into the United States Army Ranger Hall of Fame in 1992 for extraordinary valor and distinguished service as a Ranger qualified leader.

This emotional tribute will include a fly over and demonstration by the Sky Soldiers helicopter team. Afterward, Huey helicopter rides will be offered for $20 per person between noon and 5 p.m., and other helicopters will remain on static display.

Please join us in recognizing the sacrifices that these soldiers have made.
