Rangers=Special Forces?

Man, this is really a dumb thing to have to explain.
Have you seen the qualification award for 'Special Forces" and the unit patch for "Special Forces"?
Have you seen the qualification award for "Ranger" and the unit patch for the Ranger Bn or Regiment?
Are they the same thing? Do you think the army issues you either of these at random, no matter which school you complete or unit you are assigned to?
Rangers and Special Forces are unique forces unto themselves. You don't call SF soldiers 'Rangers' and you don't call Ranger soldiers 'SF'. Rangers would not be upset or anything stupid like that for Not being called 'SF', as they are not 'SF'. However, both are part of the larger SOF scene, and subunits of USASOC, which is part of USSOC. Each unit, SF and Ranger has it's own mission and, although both missions are SOF oriented, they are not 'interchangeable' units or designations.

Your friend is stupid
Travis, Ranger pneves wrote a very straight forward answer to your stupid friend's question. If he still doesn't get it, then maybe you need to take alittle more steps. Let me enlighten you and warn your stupid friend. Next time you stupid friend goes up to you and tells you that Rangers and Special Forces are the same thing you should warn him... like this. " It would be very unfortunate if something were to happen to your eyes". When he comes back with a smart ass comment, poke him the the eye and run away, if you did it right he won't be able to chase you. Next time he comes up to you and starts a conversation that leads to the subject that Rangers and Special Forces are the same, poke him in the eye and run away. Depending on how stupid your friend is you might have to do if a few times for him to understand what your trying to say. If after about 5 times all he understands is that you will poke him in the eye as soon as he opens his mouth, but still hasn't caught on to the fact that it's only because of his stupid theory you may have to move a few steps forward. The next time he starts talking about how Rangers and SF are the same, tell him " It would be very unfortunate if your house were to unexpectidly catch on fire". If he doesn't understand what your trying to say then maybe you should make sure he's in the house when you tourch it. Good luck convincing your stupid friend.
