Norm, did you run the serial #? There is also a web site, 1911.org, that can tell you when the weapon was manufactured, based on the Ser. #, along with a possible history. My boss inherited one that was built by Singer Sewing Machine Comp. in 1914. John Browning did an amazing job on this design. There are alot of Spec. Op LE teams going back to the 1911.

Had that model back in the '70s, also a real bargain as I bought it at a GI's 'divorce sale'.
Sold it in the barracks oconus when I ETSed as bringing it back was too great a PITA and getting replacements in 1980 wasn't difficult. Heard it passed from hand to hand for years after as owners rotated.

Good model, I liked it.

Really bought it because an old friend from basic, and Ranger school grad, is on hard times and needed the ching........ :(
