MOORHEAD, Minn. — A drunken driver from Fargo, N.D., faces charges after being nabbed by an Army Ranger, authorities said.
Police said Mike Arntson chased down the man after he crashed into a vehicle carrying Arntson; his wife, Heather; and their four children in south Moorhead late Sunday afternoon.
Heather Arntson called 911 after the crash, saying the driver was trying to flee the scene on foot. She told the dispatcher that her husband was chasing down the man.
Mike Arntson, an Iraq war veteran, says his military training “just kind of kicked in.” He says he caught up with the driver a few houses away. He searched the man and marched him back to the scene.
Police say the 23-year-old Fargo man was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, leaving the scene of an accident and disobeying a stop sign.

I'm surprised there's no mention about the perp having a broken arm or facial lacerations as a result of falling down while being chased...

Re: Army Ranger helps police chase down DUI suspect
We were hanging out at the Candy Factory formerly known as the bar "The Other End" on River Street one night drinking our beers when a guy is running down the street with a cop chasing him yelling "stop that man" when the Ranger standing next to me just "pole ax" punched the guy out cold and sent him sprawling on the cobble stones. I think it might have been Ranger Principe? It was cool to watch and he got a cool certificate from the cops too.

Re: Army Ranger helps police chase down DUI suspect
It must be a ranger thing. My son is 3/75th. He and a couple of his ranger buds were at a little concert in Columbus. When leaving, they passed a Salvation Army person accepting donations just as some dirt bag grabbed the money pail and ran up the street. My son ran the guy down and held him while his buddy zip tied his hands and feet. (I don't know why the other Ranger had zip ties.) When the police showed up, they thanked the Rangers, and hauled the guy off. They even gave the Rangers some more zip ties.???????

Proud Father of three; one in the 3/75; one Navy Special Forces; and one a doctor.
