Rangers:

As I was reading this, I realized that I guess I might be "overweight." I'm 69", yet I weight 200lbs.. I admit that I could probably lose about 10lbs of fat, but if I lost anymore weight, I'd feek awkward.. I've always had a big frame, yet I can still run for the most part..

I'm guessing that's not a bad thing, but would it be more beneficial to try and lose some more of my mass?? I could give a shit about physique; just about conditioning and strength.. A friend of mine who went through even just OSUT/AIT for 11b (I think that's what basic Infantry is), and he lost nearly 15lbs of weight, just from training/eating differently..

At 5 feet nine inches and 200 pounds you probably are overweight. For your height, you should be under 180 pounds according to Army height/weight standards. But maybe you have a low bodyfat and a bodybuilder physique with a waist size of 30 inches or less. I don't recall if you have posted any PT results, but if you can run 2 miles in under 13 minutes and better yet be at around 12 minutes, and can do at least 80 sit-ups in two minutes and 80 push-ups in two minutes, plus a a dozen or more dead hang pull-ups, and run five miles in less than 40 minutes, then you have nothing to worry about. If you can't, get on Ranger Nomad's workout of the day program.

Ranger Bill:

The only part of my PT that is truly hurting is my running, in which I'm currently doing ~7min/miles, but I'm only up to 3miles so far.. I hate running, but back a bunch of years, I used to do track/soccer/hockey/football all year round, so running is something I can get back into fairly quickly.. I just hate running.. I've never found it to be therapeutic, and I've found in the past, that if I can accomplish cardio/aerobic exercises without running, I will.. I never included running stairs to be running, since there's more to stairs than just running..

Besides running, my pull-ups/chin-ups could use some work.. I'm currently at 8 pull-ups, and 10 chin-ups.. Damn AF doesn't mandate them, so I never really included them a lot in previous work-outs I've done..

My target for me to max out Army PT is September timeframe.. Then I go TDY to the sandbox (only say TDY, since it's not to a CZ or HFZ), so I will lose whatever residual distractions, and can train for hours and hours a day.. When I return sometime next summer, I'll be raring to cross over, and get beat down by RIP..
