Expectations of the NCO's versus the Joe's...

Post by Eyez79 »

So what are the expectations of the NCO's, from Cpl to SGM, during school? I was laterally promo'd today to Cpl and I was wondering what more will be expected of me, if anything.

I am horrible at best at doing opord's! I have been told practice, practice, and practice it and it will eventually come to me....this is not coming to me yet!

Are NCO's graded harder by the RI's or is it rank dependant (ie a SFC is expected to know more than a Sgt, etc.)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Any heads up of what might be expected of NCO's would be appreciated too.

If you are talking about during Ranger School, you will not wear any rank insignia. You will be addressed as "Ranger." Practice preparing your WARNORD, OPORD, FRAGOs. This is one of the toughest tasks for many students. It comes with practice. Never, never quit!

Don't you fucking worry Jim. We'll likely be seeing this one. He'll be gently coached along the way.

I've seen his myspace...can't wait to see the "eyezofdeath".

Ranger Jim: Oh I wont quite, I may hate every second of it, but I wont quite. Some things I just worry about, maybe more than I should.

Ranger Kilted Heathen: Damn, had me going back to look at my myspace page again... I know your "gentle coaching" is going to be pure hell for me but its what has to happen to get me ready for Ranger School. I will hate you during it but thank you at the end of it.

Masterpiece of understatement.

You spelled "quit" wrong.

Do some fucking push-ups.

Ranger Kilted Heathen: Never said I was a smart one. Not for sure where Kelly Hill is, so I am going to run with no I am not there. I am down in Stewart.

Also, got the message and will do so as soon as I get away from the family.

That's bullshit. Family are excellent push up critics.

MSG_T wrote:Eyes Im NO Ranger...Yet...But I have given a few OPORDS and FRAGOS in my time, I will tell you the only way to learn and get OPORDS down is to do them over and over. Just read. Cram the parts and points, know what composes the 5 paragraphs of an Op Order. Thats why I always picked the SPC's in the unit and the CPLs to do them. Its a time learned thing.
One of my SGM battle buddies here was a RI for years, and he told me even with the sterile uniform they can pick ya out in a crowd by your rank. My take is WTF ever, I agree with the sterile uniform. Its going to be about YOU not your rank. As with anything else we do as soldiers, Just give it your all and never quit.
Jesus, you do fucking realise that...fuck it, never goddamn mind. You better fucking not be a no-show in Jan.

Until then, MSG, stop waving fucking pom-poms until you're tabbed.

You're simply in the wrong fucking place to give advice on Land Nav, WARNO, OPORD or fuck-all else until you're tabbed.

Now, stop posting like you're on mil.com and excercise your situational awareness.
