H&K .223 Mags

Post by StrykeFirst »

When I was in School here recently I heard alot of the Regiment cats talking about using H&K magazines and how realible they were. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with them and if they so much more realible then the standard issue magazine as to warrant being $50 bucks a pop.

I got another tour coming up in September so I'm thinking about takin a combat loads worth of them if they are worth it.

Thanks in advance...

Better magazines are always worth it. It might be easiest to order one for yourself, test it, see what you think and go from there. No one else knows what you need like you do.

Personally, I've settled on the Magpul P-mags. They are freakin' awesome except they fit a bit tighter in the ole' ammo pouches. And they're a LOT less expensive than H&K mags.

I had one. I traded it for something else. They're great if they're issued, but I wouldn't drop the coin on them personally. I've never had any major problems with the issued ones. They're laying around everywhere, they're free and you can dx them :)

I don't know if I would necessarily buy them with money out of my own pocket, but they're what I use regularly. The biggest downfall is that they're a good 2 or 3 times heavier than your standard issue aluminum magazine. I haven't noticed a HUGE difference, when it comes to a bad/double feed, but they're significantly more durable. I haven't had a structural failure out of them yet.

You were supposed to have turned those back into me when you cleared  . I'm not worried about them anyways. I can always get more.

As far as weighing more, that is a good thing during reloads, I have never had to pull one out while depressing the magazine release. The are a lot more durable, and as many will tell you, the issued magizines have a tendancy to come apart after continued use. In my opinion, the K&K magazines are far superior and if you have the extra money, a very good investment. Check gun broker.com or other websites, you can probably find them cheaper.

If you take care of the issue mags, they last a long time. I have had mine since I ETS'd in 94. Out of the 60 I have, only a few have ever given me problems. Because I can't DX them I have been looking into the P-Mags, and when I can save the scratch to replace all of them I will (unless someone wants to help me out by DXing them for me)
