I hope this post isn't deemed as unwarranted, but I feel that it's necessary for me to say that this website is a an invaluable resource for someone like me!
Although I'm scared shitless by devilrats horror story about shin splints, I've gleaned more helpful and hopeful advice about them from this site than I have from:
1) My doctor
2) Friends
3) Running coaches
4) My mother.
I want to thank you Rangers for allowing kids and people like me the opportunity to learn from you. I understand the value of silence, so I'll stop talking while I am not too far behind.

Dreadnought,
I hope you realize that you're posting your intro as a reply on someone elses intro.
Repost another introduction as a new subject. Maybe you can do this before the Wrath of the Rangers befalls you!!
I agree that this site is a wealth of information for aspiring Rangers.
1st impressions mean a lot!!!
Read all the stickies, FAQs before putting your dick on the chopping block.
I'll welcome you on your very own intro.
Glenn.

SITREP
I just took the ASVAB at the Miami MEPS, and I scored an overall of 98, with a GT and CO of 134 and 133, respectively.
I went to a doctor to get that chest pain checked out that I had, but neither a standard physician nor a cardiologist could find anything that would lead to the chest pain, so the cardiologist suggested that I had just pulled something in the chest area by working out too hard. He said he attributed it to muscular pain.
He did, however, notice the most minuscule of leakings in my aortic valve. I don't have a murmur, however, as it is so small as to be undetectable with a stethoscope. He only saw it with an ultrasound. He said that it is insignificant to the point where it doesn't affect me in the least, physically. This still had me worried, so I went back to the recruiting station a few days ago.
My recruiter, an Airborne Infantry guy who was with the 82nd, told me that I had nothing to worry about and I was entirely in the clear if, at the MEPS physical, I say no to "Do you have any heart problems?" because, well, I DON'T have any problems!
I'm pretty excited that things are going well so far, and hopefully within a week I'll be looking at an Option 4! :)

So you looking at an option '4' now instead of 40?Dreadnought wrote:

Re: SITREP
Yes Ranger RTO, I'm aiming to sign an Option 4 now instead of an Option 40. I'm doing it this way because I know my shin splints are going to give me problems with the running, and I want to be able to evaluate my situation after Jump school and decide whether I'm up to attempting RIP. I figure it's better to have the option then as opposed to right now taking an Option 40 away from someone who deserves it more than me.RTO wrote:So you looking at an option '4' now instead of 40?Dreadnought wrote:

I discovered my talents too late in life well after spending 7 yrs in Regiment. Once I found music and put a band together I always found the high of performing to be incredible. It even out ranks freefalling. If not for music and being in a band chasing the dream I think that my entire career would have taken many different paths. If you just want the experience of living life, do 4 yrs as a Ranger then go back to the music that has always been there before.
I think that you didn't fully appreciate the post that I've quoted above. SCROLL back to his post, read it again, and click on anything that is hyperlinked.
When a Ranger takes the time to speak to you, learn to digest it. That means that you chew it 20 times with the left molars, and chew it 20 times with the right molars before you swallow the knowledge.
Or, you can go back to Ranger Kilted Heathen's last post. He speaks cold, hard facts in 5 or 6 simple words.
Good luck with the raspberry...
