Good luck with your scholarship, they're not always easy to come by. Since you're going the ROTC route, I'd like you to know how important it is for you to KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE BOOKS!!!!!!!

I don't know if you're familiar with the process, but GPA is very critical when it comes to determining what branch you end up in.

Rangers, I am posting to give anyone interested an update on my status. I received a 4 year scholarship and will be attending UC Santa Barbara this fall. I have met with the cadre there and a few current cadets and it appears to be an excellent program. Last year they had 100% branch satisfaction, which is very encouraging for me.

Sorry for the late reply Ranger Rico, but I was wondering if anyone has any information past the branching out of ROTC that could help me in my path to being a Ranger. From my current understanding, if I manage to branch Infantry, after BOLCII I should be offered an opportunity to attend Ranger School, which most Infantry Officers attend. However, completing Ranger School by no means guarantees me a spot as a Ranger as I understand it. What can I do past this point to become a Ranger? Thanks in advance for all the help, this site is an amazing resource and I appreciate your efforts in keeping it up!

From what I've seen coming out of BOLC recently you're not even guaranteed to "just" complete Ranger School.

So...how about one step at a time?

I know, I know...you're nothing like the bits of shit we watch LOM every cycle.

You're...different.

Congratulations. The best you can do is be at the top of your cadet class, have a GPA in a 3.5 plus range, and set the example in everything you do. Be a PT stud, be on your Ranger Challenge Team and volunteer for everything. Prove yourself by attaining leadership positions. Attned Airborne while you are a cadet.
