Directly across the water from "The WTC" site is Staten Island. Many of our streets have been renamed from the long list of Islanders (approximately 170) that perished on 9/11/01.
While doing a google-fu I came up with this page listing all Memorials of WTC & 9/11 around our country (& the world) so click a few and see that there are no doubt thousands of people (if not tens of millions) that also care.

The Austin memorial is really nice. We've been every Memorial Day since we've been here.
Austin 9-11 MemorialThe Texas Cemetery 911 Memorial in Austin was designed by architect Bob Ogorzaly of O’Connell Robertson and Associates of Austin and paid for with private funds. It features two beams recovered from ground zero at the World Trade Center. The steel beams are each at least 8 feet long and weigh about 1,400 pounds.
