Hello Rangers and armyranger.com community. My name is Jeff and I am considering joining the army. I would like to be a Ranger if I decide to enlist. I am still in the process of making my decision and I have found this site to be very helpful. I appreciate those of you (Rangers) who have taken the time to give your knowledge and advice to those of us who are considering following in your footsteps. If I decide to join I will not ship out for several months because I want more time to prepare myself physically for the rigors ahead. I started my PT program three days ago and I have quite a ways to go before I'm ready for RIP. Anyway, thanks again for all your help and I'm glad to be a part of this site.

Jeff

Welcome. Read all the FAQs and stickies. Get an avatar that is correct for your status as a civilian. Address Rangers as that - not "you guys".

Do not post again until someone has sent you a PM (private message) with specific instructions, unless another Ranger asks you a question.

Good luck.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in enlisting and in Army Rangers. If you have what it takes, there is absolutely nothing you can do that will have a greater positive effect on the rest of your life.

Well Rangers, I suck but that's ok I can improve in no time. It feels good to be workin out nonetheless. These are my scores:

PU: 27
SU: 51
Pull ups: 8

2 mile: 16:54

These suck I know but I'm not discouraged I know i can improve. But I am confused about one thing. These are how many I could do until muscle failure. My brother and I weren't sure if you were allowed to rest for a couple sec, then hit another push up or if the time limit was just there for the guys who can keep going for two minutes. I just thought it seemed silly that they would let you stop and rest and then keep going until two min but maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong because my scores won't be quite so crappy! If one of the Rangers would like to let me know which is the case, I will be very grateful. I have enjoyed reading the various stickys and posts here and I have tremendous respect for all of you. Thank you for your service and thank you for your inspiration.

Rangers, I finally found the info on wikipedia. I had looked at about ten other sites before that and didn't find the info. Sorry for asking before I spent more time searching. Please forgive me. Thank you for your service.

Welcome to your journey in becoming a U.S. Army Ranger. It is hard, demanding but extremely rewarding. Work hard, challenge yourself always, maintain a can do positive attitude and NEVER, NEVER QUIT once you decide to begin.

Good luck and Gods speed.
