Whats the best thing you can do one week out before a APFT?

No Snivel Zone. PT - Pushups, Flutterkicks, Running, Roadmarching.

hit a 290, took a week off from drinking beer/booze. Took 4 days off before the run and I think that was a huge mistake.

Me personally, I would take 1-2 days off prior to the apft if possible. Allow your body time to recover.

That's what I usually tried to do. Did you puke after the run? If not, then you didn't run hard enough.

It is easy to forget that you are an ROTC cadet, and that in your situation your grades are of paramount importance, followed by the PT test. Your military training is still ahead of you. 290 is a good score and you will improve, and I commend you for it. But heed the words Vaff has given you and pay particular attention to the quote in his signature line.
