Ranger KW Driver,

My pushup form has not been verified by any Ranger or other member of the Army. I have tried to the best of my ability to mimic the form described by Rangers on this site. I will have the recruiters at my station look at my form the next time I go there for a DEP PT event.

Good intro. Welcome. You're doing a lot to physically prepare yourself for what lies ahead. And rightly so. Just remember that a vast majority of those that don't make it fail mentally. They quit. Don't let that be you.

A man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. You have been successful at this station. Move forward to the next station. As you have obviously given this some reflection, please tell us (in 250 words or less) why you wish to become a member of the Ranger Regiment. I would like to see your response posted here. Oh, and welcome...

Ranger Jim,

Over the past couple of years, I have watched on television and read on the internet about what our military has been doing over seas. I have grown tired of being and observer and long to contribute. Through reading this site, I have developed a deep admiration for the Rangers and the high level of standards they are held to. I currently work in a world where half-assed work is praised and rewarded. I want to put myself into an environment where my best is not quite good enough. I want to be challenged to grow in everything I do. I want to watch the quitters walk off with their heads hung low while the stubborn few continue to endure the suck. I want the brotherhood that is so revered by the Rangers on this board.

Last but certainly not least, I want that scroll!

ANGRYCivilian,

Yes, I will be going in as an E-4.

From what I understand, I would not be considered part of the Spec-4 Mafia since I won't be tabbed. I am curious as to how new, untabbed Specialists are viewed in the Regiment. In any case, I expect I will be smoked to no end just the same as the privates :)

I don't know about the Ranger Regiment, but in basic and ait, there are going to be a bunch of Privates. By your instructors, you'll be just one of them, but they may place you in a leadership position. By the other soldiers, you'll be the asshole who makes more money than they do.

This probably goes all across the Army, you will be placed in positions based on your skills, talents, character, etc. Look at it like this, you have a better paycheck and a jump on the other guys if you're not a shit-bag.

you will be a PV-4, just like the other new PFCs (E-3), PV2s (E-2), and PVTs (E-1), but with a little more pay. with greater ability, comes greater respect and responsibility, and then a shot at the tab, irrespective of rank at entry to the Regt. At least that's how it was when I left.
