out of basic and starting AIT

Post by ephi308 »

well im on my 36 hour pass with the family and it has been quite an experience to get out of Ft Benning for a while. I am in Alpha 2-58 and wow what a ride so far. While we were at the first aid course we had 5 heat casualties in about 20 minutes. In our platoon alone we have had 2 quit, 3 medical Discharge, 1 con leave and 3 change to 11B. It has been very hot these past few weeks and those IBA's dont make it better. I didnt relize there was so much to learn. I think they need to increase the ASVAB requirements for that MOS cause we have some real dummies in our company. Oh, im a 11C. yippie cant wait to ruck that base plate or tube. Does being an 11C make RIP any more difficult compared to being a 11B?? Our company 1SG is a really good 1SG and he has talked to us about rangers a bit cause he used to be a RI. His name is 1SG F******. He has a combat patch from the 82nd Airborne and has his Ranger tab. One of our Drill Sergeants, Drill Sergeant S*******, just left too and he has his Ranger Tab. He didnt say where he was going. Anyway just wanted to let yall know everything is rocking here. Ill give another update after BAC. thanks Rangers for the site.

Good job so far.

Keep drinking water, all the time. It will keep you vertical :) With as hot as it's been, if you don't feel the need to take a leak, drink. You can sweat away enough to go from okay to really critical in a very short period of time so try to stay on top of it all the time, not just when working. I'm a BTDT on dehydration and its awful.

ah sorry. i forgot about the name guidelines, it wont happen again. The 2 that quit refused to train so they got article 15's and 45 days extra duty. We all tried talking them out of quiting but they were hard headed. Im staying vertical really good. i drink around 8 quarts of water a day. ill give an update after graduation.
