Tan beret outside Regiment/Ranger School?

Ranger Welfed, and IntelToad might remember this but we had a Ranger who PSC'd to bragg from Regiment (Ranger Jackxxx) who I remember was allowed to continue to wear the (then) Black Beret because of USASOC afilliation with us. I guess that much hasn't changed.
1984 - 1985 5th Inf Div
1985 - 1986 75th Inf Ranger Regt
1986 - 1988 3/12 SFG (ABN)

We have a 1/75 Ranger up here recruiting in the Newark area who wears his tan beret.

I didn't know he was doing it, but we talk alot and he informed me his CO said to do it, just don't come to Battalion or MEPS like that.

So he keeps a black one in the car.

He took off the Ranger Bn flash and put the baby blue Army flash on it. :?

I wouldn't have done THAT, but he's happy.

Hit it, There's one exception about headgear in USAREC..you can wear the headgear of a unit you were in if it's Airborne or Ranger. They consider it a selling tool. true...look it up...with a different flash is a NO-GO!

I have heard it, but never seen it.....

Until I opened the recruiter journal and this chick from the 82d was wearing her stuff cheesing for the fucking camera.

I never did it. And I never will.
