Al-Qaeda militants seize much of Fallujah

Post by Flesh Thorn »

Al-Qaeda militants have seized much of Fallujah, a key city in western Iraq, engaging Iraqi army forces in pitched battles there in a brazen challenge to Iraq's central government.

"The whole of Fallujah is taken," said Qasim Abed, a member of the provincial council in the region and the former governor of Anbar. "The situation is very bad."

Abed was reached Saturday by phone from his home in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, a mostly Sunni region west of Baghdad. He said militants have occupied police stations and government buildings throughout Fallujah and are also controlling limited parts of Ramadi.

We had plenty of Army there too.
Didn't mean to imply different. My brother-in-law was with 3/2 Stryker operating there as well.

Ya think?
Pros - we killed a shit load of terrorists and wannabe terrorists (even got the boogie man of the 1980s, Abu Nidal)
also pro, we got rid of a super douche who made me miss Christmas four years in a row and made me postpone my honeymoon twice

Cons - they killed a bunch of us (not a shit load, but a bunch)

I do think we should have gone, but I think we should have got the hell out quicker than we did. I definitely think we should have got out of Afghanistan about five or more years ago. Same thing will happen there, so why postpone the enivitable
