This Individual was working as a contract employee. He claimed service in Somalia. A check of the TF Ranger indicated that he was not there. He lost his job for claiming Somalia service when he was not there.

I hope this clarifies your questions and this resolves this issue.

Army Strong reflects the strength of the Army team, as well as the
strength that lies within each Soldier - There's Strong, and then
there's Army Strong.

Glen,

Not forgotten.
I have reviewed Jason Beaton's records and what I can share with you is that I am fully confident we are discussing an Honorably retired Senior
NCO with over 20+ years of distinguished service to this Nation.

While I am not generally in the habit of entertaining incoming requests for our office to "validate" credentials on any of our representatives,
in this particular case I felt it important to do so as evidently a young Future Soldier had become involved in the situation.

Without going into great detail, what I will release to you is that Jason Beaton's background review produced the normal credentials you
would expect for an individual who has attended and successfully completed Airborne, Ranger and Sniper courses along with a wide variety
of other "identifiers". I can also share with you that you are inquiring into a CIB (2nd awardee) who received the Purple Heart while in direct execution of
combat related actions.

Having shared that, regarding what was or was not said or the intent of the statement made during a brief chat interaction as you had previously
alerted me to is the remaining question.

For that, I have no answer at this point. I can not attempt to explain why he might reply to your email in the manner he did other than he may have perceived it to be one of many incoming emails we receive from sources representing both ends of the spectrum.

What I do know is the same information I shared with you above is validated.

I have spoken with Mr Beaton and can tell you that he was not involved in Somalia and stated his responses regarding that subject were made in
haste as he was engaged in chat actions.

I hope this clarifies your questions and this resolves this issue.

Just got off the phone with Mr. Folsom. Seems he is Beaton's supervisor. He told me that he sat Beaton down yesterday and made him make a statement on whether he was in Somalia or not. Of course we all know the answer. He stated that he was on his resume.

His feeling is that Mr. Beaton will no longer be employed with the Army.

And now Mr. Beaton is no longer employes with the Army.
