SITREP- Conner

Post by CH525 »

Rangers, I am currently at the hotel and leaving for Fort Benning tomorrow morning. I've only been able to run once in the past 5-6 weeks due to shin splints, but the pain is almost completely gone. I feel much more prepared thanks to the knowledge and guidance on this sight, and am looking forward to beginning OSUT, and everything that follows.

Rangers, I graduated OSUT a couple weeks ago and just finished tower week of Airborne school. All that's left to do is 5 jumps next week.

OSUT was a lot of fun and good training. I couldn't run for the last 6 weeks before I shipped due to shin splints and just sat around and got fat and slow, and on APFT 1 I did 52/60/15:34. Right now my scores are 66/73/13:42. A word of advice to anyone shipping to OSUT/Basic soon, the PT in the morning isn't enough to improve your APFT very much unless you're scoring low already. You need to do it on your own in the bay at night, and if you're lucky your company might let you run around the buildings on personal time.

The PT here at Airborne isn't very challenging, but you have plenty of free time to work out on your own. There's a 1 mile track right next to the barracks you can use and Audie Murphy gym is free, so there's really no excuse not to. Also, don't waste too much time and money at drop zone. And don't drink, people got kicked out for that week one.

Overall I've been enjoying OSUT and Airborne and am looking forward to RASP, for now I'm just going to PT as much as possible and enjoy having free time while I can.

Outstanding.

You still got room for APFT improvement. Don't cheat yourself by not adhering to strict form. They don't cut 1 iota of slack once you get to RASP.

Just a side question: Are they or are they not using the 250' Towers?

Ranger Centermass, they did use the 250' towers for us but only about 15 people got to go out of the entire company.
