Going to Ranger School after completing RASP?

Post by carbonlife4010 »

Hello Rangers,

I recently enlisted as a 94F, option 40. I have my college degree in Biology and am entering the Army as an E4 specialist. My question is, would I be sent to Ranger School faster as an entering E4 into a bat? Or does it not even matter in this case?

Thank you,
Navid

This is a really open ended question. My first comment would be earn your way through BAC, and RASP before even thinking about Ranger School. In most cases, however, it will depend on the unit requirements. Due to the frequent deployments, for example, it has been increasingly difficult for units to release their Medics (MOS 68W) for Ranger School. You have chosen a very focused MOS, so at this moment, almost anything anyone tells you will be nothing but a guess.

I would concur with Ranger Jim, the first thing you need to do is focus on Basic Training, then AIT, then Airborne School, then RASP, in that order. Remember, when you focus on the 300 meter target, that 50 meter target will jump up and kick you in the a**. Focus like a laser beam on what's in front of you and don't worry about Ranger School until you make it to a Ranger Battalion, IF you want to make it to a Ranger Battalion. Keep your eye on the prize and never, ever quit. RLTW
