Medical holds at Airborne

Post by hit_it »

If a Soldier is hurt in training while assigned to the Airborne school, several things may happen:

1. If Soldier is in a TDY and Return status, The Soldier will be released from training and returned to his permanent duty station. Depending on the severity of the injury, Soldiers may be allowed to return to training at a later date.

2. If Soldier is in initial entry training, the Soldier will be evaluated by the Physician tasked with monitoring students in training. If found to be a serious enough injury to warrant release from training, the Soldier will be placed on immediate WORLDWIDE assignment.

AT THAT POINT, ANY GAURANTEES IN AN ENLISTMENT CONTRACT ARE LOST.

Soldiers put on WW will also be reviewed by an Medical Evaluation Board. This will happen without the Soldier in attendance. If the Soldier is cleared, they may return to training by reapplying for Airborne duty at a later date. If the Soldier is not cleared, they will recieve a permanent profile and not be allowed to attend Basic Airborne Training again.

Medical Profile: A medical profile is a doctor recommendation of physical limitation. This limitation is verified by the Commander. A profile may be permanent or temporary.

You may not attend any training such as Airborne or Ranger with limiting profiles.

3. A Soldier on temporary profile may be retained in "holdover" status while his medical condition improves and rehabilitation is complete. A Soldier will only become a holdover if there is a chance he can complete the training after rehabilitation.

A TDY SOLDIER WILL NOT BECOME A HOLDOVER.

Once a Holdover has completed rehabilitation, he will rejoin training by either restarted the phase he was injured in, or restarting the entire course.

Airborne Training is voluntary, if a holdover does not have the desire to return to training, they will be placed on immediate worldwide assignment.
