Intro - Mike

Post by Hal224 »

Good morning everyone,

My names Mike and I am currently AD Navy. I have been in 9 years and the equivalent to a E6 92R. I have a majority of Army schools as for Airborne, Freefall and SL /FF Jump master. That being said I am waiting for my current contract to end. And trying to find the easiest route for a option 40 contract whether it’s enlisted or officer if my degree is acceptable. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated thank you.

Hey Mike, welcome to the site.

Most branches of military have programs to transfer you over and you may not have to ETS first. I'd start with an online search to see if the Navy/Army has a program to give you some quick information. If you have trouble getting some self help call a recruiter. This is obviously assuming you have done neither of these things yet.

What career field are you hoping to get into with the Army? Rigger still or something else? Most of my experience in hearing from folks doing this talk about the limitations for job selection. If you do have to exit the service just know the Army keeps a list of available jobs open to prior service.

Welcome to the site.

Regarding the choice between the Option 40 or OCS, are you looking to serve as an Army Ranger or an officer who attends the Ranger course? You need to choose one or the other as you can't have both right off the bat.

Most officers in the 75th Ranger have the proper credentials, many of whom, were prior enlisted former Rangers of the Regiment who were later commissioned, and those officers who have demonstrated themselves to meet the criteria expected after a few years of experience and apply for it later on.

If you want into the 75th Ranger Regiment, I would suggest obtaining the Option 40, do a few years of solid performance on the enlisted side, and then, apply for OCS.

If you're serious about this, contact the recruiter
