Switching from NG to AD

Post by Patriot13 »

I am a PV2 and my mos is 11b. I've always wanted to become a Ranger since I was young, but family issues came up, and my plans took a different course of action. But now, I can finally do what I want to do. I will be switching over from the NJNG to AD, but I really want to sign with Option 40. Can anyone help me out and give me some advice on if this is even possible, and if so when I should go to the recruiter? Thank You, PV2 Roesch

Welcome, Our policy is that your initial post will be an introduction -- so I moved your post to the proper thread. If you are interested in earning a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came t the right site. We take a lot of pride in the fine young Rangers who pass through armyranger.com on their life journey. Begin with the link I provided and realize that you will have to pass RASP. There are a number of serving Rangers who are more up to date in the day to day life in the regiment. Please tell us more about yourself: How old are you? How many years of service? Are you in superb physical shape? Why do you want to be a Ranger?

I am 19, turning 20 in a month. My pt is usually between 250/260 ( push-ups are my weakness, only get between 50-55 normally ). My ASVAB score was a 76, with a gt score of 115. I've always wanted to become a Ranger ever since 5th grade. My family has a long military history, dating back to the Revolutionary War, and just wanna continue the tradition and more importantly serve the United States with the best of the best.

1. Have you been to OSUT?
2. Will the NJARNG release you to go AD?
3. Have you read the link I posted?

If your P/U's are always between 50-55 what are you doing to get better at them? Or are you satisfied with that score?

If you WANT to be a Ranger (not wanna, lose that word forever) you'll need to start pushing yourself harder than you ever have before. I mean literally working out and running until you puke on a daily basis for starters. Trust me, do this and you will see improvements in your scores.

Read much, study hard, pay attention to details. There's a reason God gave us two eyes, two ears and only one mouth.

Good luck.

I am not satisfied with my push-ups at all. I usually do a 200 push-up work, consisting of 200 push-ups in about 5 min with weights on ( IOTV usually) and 200 with nothing. But I still can't get my numbers up
