A Sig (short for Signallman) is the equivalent rank to our Private. The US Army ranking structure is sligtly different to ours in regards to progression and time/skill at each level and thus a direct comparison to a US Army rank is a little awkward.DirtyLeg wrote:Pandellis... what the hell is a sig... Private, Sergeant, supreme high commander...Pandellis wrote:Yes I'm still in service, intend on making it a career. My rank is Sig, and I am in the Royal Australian Signals Corps (RASigs).

Very observant of you Ranger Chiron. The name I read in a novel when I was a kid, back when I thought Greece was a just musical and not a county. It has been my display name ever since.
I'm origionally from a speck of a town in rural South Australia, but since joining the Green Machine I've been all over the Eastern states and am now in Southern Queensland.

I have an Aunt and two 1st cousins down under in Melbourne. My aunt’s husband the late Nicholas Franghis was awarded the Victoria Cross in El Alamein in WWII. I have lots of relatives in Australia. Lots of 2nd and 3rd cousins. They all say it’s a cool place.

Damn Straight, Ranger Chiron.
Australia is an awesome place to live. In regards to El Alamein, and all past battles for that matter, as a Soldier I am very proud of our military heritage and strive to uphold it every day as I'm sure you lads uphold yours.
I love this forum by the way - run the way that the military should be run. Civvies just don't get it do they, political correctness is spreading like cancer. Keep it up.
I'll be posting more frequently once I've finished all the recon in the threads.
