TF160 and Jump Status

Last I heard TF160 (1st Special Operations Aviation Regiment) was an Airborne unit - that they jumped regularly and received jump pay.

Does anyone know if that is true today?

It's as true for them as it is for the 82d's aviation dudes.

That seems like a pretty large waste of money to me as it is not practical to LAPES a helicopter.

I is a very large waste of money just as it is a waste of money to have to have RTB and JFKSW (SFAS/SFQC) on jump status. I love the money and I get paid to jump out of a UH-60!!! Bring it on!

Only certain elements of the 160th are on jump status. The pilots and crew chiefs are not. Like you guys said "a waste of money". They also didn't like the fact that if a pilot got busted up bad enough he would have to get out of the Army.

Yes DS you are correct. But most of the 160th is not on jump status

Ah, so a valid reason for part of the unit being on jump status emerges. I can't think of anything useful for a bonus round though.

The 3-5 platoons (ammo anf fuel) in Task Force jump. That's about it.

slots are also dispersed around staff and leadership positions.
