Introduction

Post by IRON_BIRD »

Hello, my name is Steven and I am a 18 year old male from Florida. I am planning on enlisting in the Army and becoming a Ranger. What has aspired me to become a Ranger has mainly came from articles by Jack Murphy I have read on SOFREP and reading the history of the Rangers over the past year. The only accomplishments I have earned so far have been the rank of Eagle in Boyscouts and becoming a S-2 in Army JROTC.

I have been talking to my recruiter since October 2012 but have not mention being interested in becoming a Ranger. At the time I was considering becoming an Intel Analyst in December-early January but have decided now on becoming an Infantryman. Unfortunately , I have not been able to do much with him until recently due to a plate and a few screws that had to be taken out of my collar bone (I was also 17 until December). Anyways, I had to wait a few months after my surgery in November to start exercising again (i just started recently).

I have taken the AVSAB at my school in November and got a AFQT score of 80 and a GT score of 117. So from what I have read on the internet I seem to be qualified to obtain the 11x option 40 contract. From the research though, I discovered that most of the contracts are probably taken by now (I'll check with my recruiter the next time I see him) and will have to wait until the next fiscal year October 1st to get one. Which kinda sucks because I was hoping to get away from my parents right after I graduate.

Anyways, I am glad I am here on the forums so far. I have already read some articles that have given me a better insight on the training and what to prepare for. I will appreciate any help I will get from the community and would like to return the favor once I become a Ranger.

Here is my PT scores so far.

7:26 1 mile
15:59 2 mile
30 Push Ups
5 Pull ups (palms facing away from body)
40 situps in 2 mins (I can't do one by myself for some reason.)(I think I am doing it wrong)

I have a a lot work to do but I WILL get there.

OK, Steven, you now have a baseline to build on. Please take a look at what MOSs are needed in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

I was simply pointing out that there is a variety of MOSs available.
