RIP Ranger Bradley D. Leatherman

BRADLEY D. LEATHERMAN
Sept. 2, 1973 - Jan. 6, 2013

Bradley Dean Leatherman, age 39, of Columbus, Ohio, moved to a safe place on high ground Sunday morning, 06 Jan 2013. Brad's passing was unexpected and this sudden loss has been felt by his family and many friends.

Brad was born at Aultman Hospital at Canton, O. on 02 SEP 1973, and was the son of Charles E. “Charlie” and Janniefier L. Poole Leatherman of Columbus, O., with whom he resided.

At a young age, he moved with his family to Southside, Alabama. After graduating from high school, he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the U. S. Army. Brad then proceeded to earn the coveted Ranger Tab, and with that distinction joined a brotherhood that he would cherish for the rest of his life. After his honorable discharge in 1995, he enrolled and graduated from the Lincoln Welding School Program in Cleveland Ohio. He recently had returned to the pursuit of furthering his education as he was currently attending the Ohio State University. He was still a member of the church from his childhood, the First Baptist Church of Southside, Alabama. Brad cherished spending time and communicating with his brothers in the Ranger community. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his niece Olivia and nephew Wyatt. He was a fan of all Ohio State University athletics.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister Shannon Ford of Dublin, O., a brother Troy Leatherman of Hanover, New Hampshire, a niece Olivia Ford and nephew Wyatt Ford, both of Dublin, his maternal grandmother Nada Poole of Dellroy, O., and paternal grandmother Myrtle Jane Warner of Uhrichsville, O.

He was preceded in death by a nephew Dalton Ford, his paternal grandfather Hyle (Pappy) Poole, maternal grandfather Dean Leatherman, paternal step-grandfather Ted Warner and an uncle Lyle Poole.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Milo Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bowerston. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at wounededwarriorproject.org, or the Special Operations Warrior Foundation at specialops.org. To leave an online condolence message, please visit the funeral home website.
