My wife recently gave her 642 to my son who just returned from Afghanistan. She then usurped my G23.

I've shot the 642 quite a bit. It's a nice little gun.
Problem solved. I'm taking back my Gen 3 G23 from the HH6. I'm going to buy her the S&W bodyguard .38 with lasergrips. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

When I scrounge up a bit more money I may still get the SA Micro Compact, but the Glock will do for now. It's a great gun. Unfortunately I bought it during the ban, so I only have 10rd mags. I'll need to get a few 13 or 15 rounders.

I carry a CZ 75 compact in a pancake holster. I like the reliability, large capacity mag and the fact that it is double action.

Ranger mortar_guy78- Have you taken a look at the S&W M&P in .45? I currently have been carrying a Gen3 G23 for a few years and couldn't be happier. I'm going for the full size M&P .45 (one of the lightest recoiling .45's out there; granted thats just my opinion) once I get some more bones to throw into my "fun" acount  . Either way go with what you feel you can be the most consistant and comfortable with no doubt... good luck in the search!

I don't have time to browse four pages, so if this is a re-post 'sorry'

Kahr P9 (9mm), best I've ever had. Runs like a sewing machine. Weighs nothing. Brutally simple.

I know this is an old post, but I had to put my 2 cents in. I just purchased a Smith & Wesson M & P Bodyguard 380 and I'm loving it. I've got a pocket holster and it is very easy to carry and conceal. I went for the one without the laser sights and got out the door for just over $300.00 I've also got an ankle holster that works if my pants are a little to tight. Haven't fired it much, but so far I'm liking it. I still carry my 1911 as my main firepower, but sometimes it's just to hard to conceal. I'm actually looking at buying a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE or SD40 VE to replace my 1911. Ft Lewis has one right now for 300.00 bucks and other than a stiff trigger pull it seems like a nice weapon. I've read that for about 20 bucks you can buy a kit to fix the trigger pull problem. S & W has a deal going on right now that if you are active duty or retired military you can get a 50 dollar rebate. Doesn't apply to the Bodyguard.

My problem has been solved for a bit. I ended up with a S&W M&P Shield in .40. It's thin, light, and puts the rounds where I need them to be.

Pretty fun to shoot, too.

I'm looking at that as possibly my next weapon. I was going to get the S&W SD 40/9 VE in .40 cal, but when I got to Ft Lewis they had all of their 9 mils on sale for 10% off so I choose the 9 mil. I got out the door for 280.00 and now I'm waiting for my $50.00 rebate check. It carries 16 + 1 and is very, very light. They also had all ammo on sale for 15% off so I stocked up on some ammo. Now I'm thinking about getting the shield as an In The Waistband carry pistol. I've heard nothing but good about them. Now if I could just find the time to get to The Marksman and put some rounds through my new 9 mil.
