Looking for a new carry gun

Post by mortar_guy78 »

So I'm tired of lugging around a full size SA 1911. I have to pull up my pants way too much. I'm looking for something a bit more compact.

Right now I'm considering a SA Loaded Micro Compact or the Colt New Agent. I'm kind of leery about the Colt because I've been hearing some bad stuff about their craftsmanship and customer service as of late. Anyone own a recently manufactured Colt product?

I've also been looking at smaller stuff like the Ruger LC9 or LCR, the Glock 19 or 23 and similar pistols. Still trying to make up my mind.

Any suggestions?

Been carrying G19 for years now. Great, great gun and sweat, humidity has no effects on finish or serviceability. Also carry a snubnose .38 five shot depending on dress. Can't go wrong with any of the umpteen choices there, guess it depends on what you're figgerin' to run into, crack mugger or zombie.

Funny. :D

Doesn't really do anything for me on the size issue. I might use it for a home defense gun, but that's about it. I can't imagine carrying that hoss.

I'm pretty partial to the Glocks myself. I've carried a 19 or 23 for the last 5 years or so. I went to the 19 (9MM) due to the lower price for practice ammo, which allowed me to shoot more. My wife has taken my Model 26 I bought, but that is another nice small, light weight pistol that wont really drag the paints down when carried for extended period.s of time. Mine has always been 100% reliable, and far more accurate than the average shooter. Its nice to be able to use the same mags between all of my 9mm Glocks as well.

Take a look at the HK USP Tactical Compact.

At about 1.72 lbs with a magazine and a little over 7 inches long. Plus it's a .45.

I see nothing wrong with the pocket and all of my pants are baggy enough for the gun, but they make an in the pocket sleave you could buy for cheap that hides the outline and keeps it from slipping around in the pocket. Or you could use an ankle holster but I don't like them
