15W Option 40

Post by BmanG7 »

Hello, as far as I can tell there has been no forum that directly talks about this. I apologize if I missed it. I have been planning on getting an 11b Option 40 contract. I took a practice ASVAB though and did quite well (90/99) and he has been pushing for a job that requires more mental training. We've just thrown around some ideas but today he called me up and said he secured a 15W Option 40 if I want it. I have never heard of this. As far as I know, there wasn't a 15W with the ranger batt. He said it's possible i could still go on combat runs with the infantry rangers as well as having my unmanned aircraft duties. Does anyone know much on this? Much appreciated.

BmanG7, if you want to earn a place in 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take pride in the young men who pass through armyranger.com on their life journey. Please self-administer a PT test and post your results on this thread within 72 hours. Looks you will have some time to prepare yourself. Most questions you might raise, have probably been answered at least once. The search feature located at the top right of this page is your friend. Read the FAQs, as well as the stickies to orient yourself. Most Rangers are not familiar with this MOS so I posted a link. Never, never qut

Thanks Jim, I'm actually already pretty familiar with the Rangers and the Army in general. I can get a 280 on my PT test, a 300 after a week of working at it. When wrestling season is over i plan on ensuring that 300 and looking forward at the 12 mile ruck and 5 mile run.
How easy is it for a non-infantry Ranger to see combat missions?

You did not follow my instructions. I thought they were very specific.

You're evidently so familiar with Ranger Jim that you don't feel a need to address him properly.

Glad you and your Recruiter think us poor 11B's aren't "intellectual" enough for your high pre-ASVAB scores. Be glad to compare after you take your real one.

How about you worry about getting in the Army and Regiment first before worrying about getting into COMBAT.

I googled 15W in about 5 seconds ON MY PHONE!

First assignment:
What is the title and stated duties and responsibilities of a 15W? (Hint: I'm thinking that planning, conducting and leading Special Military Operations takes at least as much intelligence as flying a model airplane.)

You have until 1930PDT 11OCT14 to answer.

Ranger Jim, you would like exacts? 12:48 2 mile, 105 situps, 62 pushups.
Ranger Rangertough: Didn't mean any disrespect at all, apologize that I came off like that. I was set on 11b Opt 40 while he was pushing for other jobs. I believe the Ranger Infantry can do outstanding things.

A 15W must get his vehicle in the air and later retrieve it. One gathers information about enemy movement or position and analyzes it to help create the best possible tactic. If I missed anything, please just let me know, Ranger Rangertough.

BmanG7 your answer to Ranger rangertough shows exactly how serious you take this. He gave you an amount of time so that you can do some serious research not a 5 second lookup on military.com and find out what these guys really do. By taking the time and finding out in depth you may even be able to answer your own question. In addition if you were familiar with Rangers you would know the MOSes that they have and 15W has been there for quite some time. Now I suggest that you take the time and give rangertough's question the proper research and answer that it deserves. We are here to help not to do your work for you.
