Re: Engraved stripped lower
I am very much into this lower. Unfortunately I have three polymer lowers and no aluminum lowers at the moment. I'm sure it's not effective to laser engrave a polymer lower. I will look up PSA anyway.

Allright. That's a lot of talk, but your heart seems to be in the right place. Report over to the 'Five Mentees' thread. Catch up on all posted assignments by Friday, May 18th. Let me know if you need an extension. I'll work with you unless/until a more suitable Ranger comes along.

OUT-FUCKING-STANDING STUD! Now that the easy part is over, congratulations, and don't forget what you had to go through to get there. Take it seriously. Literally, lives depend on how well you will do your duty.

Re: Introduction - Mike
Have you perused the mentoring zone at all? If so, what did you glean from the topics covered so far? What do you hope to learn from a Ranger mentor?

Yeah nice. But I bet it's only available to those who live in "free" states. Vote with your feet Brother, vote with your feet. I moved away from the Socialist Republic of Maryland 17 years ago and have never looked back. It's a big damned country with many, many refuges for those that car...

Re: SOT sling
Like Ranger X said, "Vickers sling". My buddy Kyle Lamb also has a nice one ("VTAC 2 pt sling"). Free running end with quick relase allows allows rapid loosening, tightening and without a doubt offers the most stable platform possible while moving, stationary, or (in some cases)...

Re: SOT sling
I made myself a sling on my sewing machine using a ruck strap (the slidey half) and some tubular nylon. It is a two point and it is the SHIT! I stole the idea from something I saw on the internet. Total investment? A few minutes time and some stuff I had laying around.

Re: Viability of taking 18X enlistment path to obtain RASP S
To go along with what has already been said-- it really boils down to whether you want to start getting paid now, or later down the road when you finally raise your right hand. There are a dozen other guys waiting in the wings to try it the hard way. Hell, I didn't even know what an Airborne Ranger ...

Re: Military Boots
I tried those Nike boots out for a couple of hours when one of my NCO's got a new pair in. They did feel awesome, just didn't seem to be enough support for my feet? How do they hold up to rucking and rough terrain? You're right about support - they're modeled after the Nike "free" sole wh...
