Re: SITREP - rpmcmurphy

At Sniper School now, about to begin the last week. Made it through all the elimination events except the final exam next week, but the course currently uses a "points system" where you have to accumulate 70% of the points available throughout the 7 weeks to graduate. I could go either way...

Re: SITREP - rpmcmurphy

Roger, Ranger Jim. Your answer definitely helped. I've since spoken with our schools NCO about it, as you suggested, and he's gotten back to me and told me the chain of command will support sending any of us who want to go to the next RS class after Sniper, assuming we graduate Sniper. Definitely ex...

Re: SITREP - rpmcmurphy

I'll try to keep this more succinct. In hindsight, now that I've been in for more than five minutes (guess I'm up to about ten now...), I'm surprised no one chewed me out for writing short novels on here. But I still have a tendency to write a lot, so we'll see. Spent eight months at Buehring, went ...

Re: SITREP - rpmcmurphy

Rangers Jim and Disinfertention, I appreciate your guidance regarding my question. It's good to know that if I wait until it's time to re-enlist before putting a packet for RASP in, there's a decent chance I could go to my installation of choice; but that it's also not guaranteed in any way. Could d...

Ranger Jim,

Just saw your question here, but fortunately my last post probably answered your question.

SITREP - rpmcmurphy

Rangers (and other concerned parties): Since I posted here some time back a few times and received considerable advice and assistance, I feel it would be considerate of me to give an update on how things went for me in OSUT. First of all, I sadly can't say anything about Airborne or RASP, as I was n...

Re: Adding Option 40 and USAREC Form 1035

PerryB, I believe I've now done everything I can do, given that I've already signed my enlistment contract and don't have much room left to negotiate. As far as the 1035 goes, I still have heard nothing back about it one way or the other yet. The future soldier leader at my center told me he brought...

Re: Adding Option 40 and USAREC Form 1035

Ranger goon175, I hope I have not come across as unappreciative regarding all the information that has been provided to me by members of this forum. I understand, though perhaps not as fully as I should, that I am not entitled to having any of my questions answered, and that no one here has any obli...

Re: Adding Option 40 and USAREC Form 1035

Roger, Ranger Jim! PerryB and Ranger MadBSTRD, So would checking the below link a few times a day, and calling my recruiter when I see that classes have been scheduled, be my best course of action at this point? I would just prefer not to miss out on a chance to snatch up an Option 40 because I aske...

Re: Adding Option 40 and USAREC Form 1035

Roger, Ranger Jim. Upper body strength always has been and is still a shortcoming for me, as far as physical fitness goes. But picking up boxing, rock climbing, and time in the gym have helped immensely, I think. In August, before I started rock climbing, I probably would not have been able to compl...

Re: Adding Option 40 and USAREC Form 1035

Thank you, PerryB, your help is appreciated as always. Not to have my hand held through this or anything, but just so to make sure I fully understand your and Ranger MadBSTRD's posts, my best course of action now would be to wait until the first or second week of March and then ask one of the recrui...

Re: Orienteering Question

Roger, Ranger RangerX. I see what you're saying. Your post also made me realize that I would probably benefit from getting some swimming practice in before shipping out. And roger, Ranger Sleepy Doc. Advice heard. With the emphasis in orienteering on getting the best time possible, it's easy to get ...

Re: Orienteering Question

Rangers RangerX and rangertough, safety glasses are a good idea. Hadn't thought of that at all. Glad you mentioned it. Also, I experienced a few head scratch inducing water features the day I ran in the rain, so I have at least a vague idea of what you all are referring to there. In my case though, ...

Roger, Ranger Jim.

I appreciate the responses, Rangers. Good to know that the time I'm spending orienteering is worthwhile.

Re: Orienteering Question

Roger, Ranger rangertough.

Roger, Ranger Tater Nuts. If I understand you correctly, the more practice I get, the better. There is a night orienteering event coming up in a few weeks that I plan to attend. I'm looking forward to it.
